The asphalt paving industry is the industry segment that builds the world’s asphalt motorways, highways, streets, airport runways, parking areas, driveways, footpaths and cycle paths, and sport and play areas.

Asphalt Batch Mixing plant: This plant produces HMA in batches in every 40-50seconds. The cold aggregates are fed into the feeders. These are then shifted to the dryer drum by means of a conveyor belt. The dryer drum takes away the moisture in the aggregates and heats it by passing the aggregates from one end to the other through drum rotation.

Subsequent studies by various regulatory agencies have verified that emissions from asphalt pavement mixing facilities do not present an environmental or public health hazard.

In Sweden, a total of about 1 million tonnes of old pavement material is recycled each year.

The end product of asphalt hot mix plants is the hot mix asphalt which is produced by the various combinations of electrical and mechanical components.

Cold asphalt recycling can be done as a plant mix using RAP or in-situ by milling and adding a rejuvenating/stabilising agent. It is generally applicable to roads with low to moderate traffic volumes.

According to the latest industry survey,the asphlt industry reclaimed 97 million tons of RAP for future use, saving about 58.9 million cubic yards.
